While some suburban communities were built along railroad tracks Burr Ridge was built around a beautiful expanse of open land. The village’s rolling hills are the community’s most defining and appreciated assets.
This western suburb, borders both Cook and DuPage counties and is bordered by Hinsdale, Western Springs, Willow Springs, Willowbrook and Indian Head Park, is still sought-after for its distinctive topography, large home lots and resulting privacy. With a population of around 10,500 residents, Burr Ridge remains one of the area’s most affluent communities and is home to a handful of professional athletes, musicians and other local celebrities.
It’s one of the newer western suburbs, first incorporated in 1956 as the village of Harvester (based on the International Harvester company that built a facility there) and later in 1962 as Burr Ridge.
Burr Ridge is just a short hop off I-55, not far from I-294 and only 18 miles from downtown Chicago.
